Got Kid’s – Here are ten healthy products to add to your shopping list
Since we all know, “we are what we eat”, so what you bring home from your grocery store will affect your child’s growth and development.
This month’s tip is intended to help you make healthier food purchases for your children. It seems, like everything today, even food shopping is getting more difficult, so here are four principles to consider the next time you shop.
- Food preferences develop early in life, therefore, providing a wide variety of foods is important
- Parents control the supply line. You make the food choice decisions for your children. Choose wisely!
- There is no such thing as “kid food.” If they can chew and swallow safely, they should eat the same healthy foods you eat. Just make the size and quantity smaller. If you need help in setting a personal eating plan, try going to www.mypyramid.gov.
- Remember, children learn by imitation of their parents and other adults. Be a good role model for healthy eating and living.
Here is a quick ten for your list this week:
- Organic plain popcorn
- Natural string cheese
- Fat free Milk
- Whole grain rice
- Free range eggs
- 100% natural applesauce
- Raisins
- Whole wheat flat bread
- Organic potatoes for home fries
- Organic fresh fruits and vegetables
This is just a off the top of my head list. I am sure you can find a different ten for each week of the month and rotate them to keep variety high. Eating should be fun and exciting.
And finally, if you feel that you are not getting all the nutritional foods in your families diet, check out the “Children’s Health Study” by first going to this link and then resources link. It is more simple than you think to get more good organic nutrition in your child’s diet.
