FYI, as reported previously…by the HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) —
“A California health care expert who played an early role in Massachusetts’ revamped health care system has been appointed by Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy as chief executive of a new state health care agency”
Kevin J. Counihan is leading the Connecticut Health Insurance Exchange.
He brings experience as former vice president of CIGNA and president of Choice Administrators Exchange Solutions, a private health insurance exchange, from California.
In addition, Mr. Counihan was chief marketing officer for the Massachusetts Health Insurance Connector Authority, that state’s health insurance exchange. Because Massachusetts was the first state to enact a public health insurance exchange, his experience there give Connecticut an advantage. “Clearly, it served as a blueprint for ACA,” Mr. Counihan is quoted saying.
