The difference between Is and Ought

Have you ever thought about how your life “ought” to be compared to what it is? Well the gap between these two different points is a problem that can only be addressed by taking small and consistent steps forward. You would be surprised how much progress you can make if you start each day, starting with today, by completing the small tasks you need to get to where you want to be. Here is just one example:
By taking small steps you can get to a better diet. Whenever one thinks about a diet, they immediately think big and painful. Changing your eating habits may seem tough, but you don’t have to change everything at once. Start with small steps. One or two things, such as replacing one food with another. Something with less calories, or more nutritional value. Over time, even these small steps can add up to big improvement in your waistline, energy or budget.
Try these steps as recommended by http://www.smallstep.gov:
- Slowly replace full-fat milk, cheese and yogurt with low-fat or nonfat versions
- Buy cuts of beef, lamb, and pork labeled “loin” or “round” — they are usually the leanest
- Remove visible fat from meat and poultry (and skin) before cooking
- Choose fish as your main course at least twice a week
- Replace breads, pasta, rice and cereals made from refined grains made from whole-grain products
- Buy frozen and canned produce packed without added salt, sugars, or fats when fresh foods are not available
- Cut up raw veggies for a crunchy choice that beats chips and crackers.
Try this food rule on for size. Try to eating mostly things with only leg (mushrooms, broccoli, or other plants) first. Next, add things with two legs (poultry) then add some things with four legs (beef or pork).
My recommendation in life is follow the simple rules, with small and consistent steps forward with move you faster toward a happier and healthier life.
