My Personal Chronic Illness Journal — 20180211 —

Looking back on my notes of the day, it has been quite a journey.

Based upon Gayle’s experience with a Lyme literate doctor, I decided it was time for me to set up my own appointment to see if I could get real answers to my own health issues. Again that takes months to get scheduled in. During this time, I helped Gayle thru doses of antibiotics and herbals treatments. We had studied up and gotten prepared for the inevitable Herxheimer Reaction.

That included finding Alka Selzer GOLD, and Epson salts. And BTW, you cannot find the Alka Selzer GOLD anywhere expect online. What’s up with That?

Back to my visit with the doctor. Fact is I had already completed the MSID Questionaire, when Gayle got her copy. I had also read a lot of articles online about symptoms, treatments, reactions, and testing. I was pretty sure Image courtesy of yodiyim at FreeDigitalPhotos.net I was infected. I had all the symptoms, random joint aches, mostly my knee, some neuropathy in my toes, night sweats, heart palpitations  and strange nerve twitching and worst of all, the chronic fatique. Worse than when I had mono (EBV) back in college.

After taking blood samples, and neurological tests, we sat and discussed my medical history and symptoms. I was shocked how much of balance was off and that finalized my opinion of my status. The blood test was a PCR antibody test thru Igenx and was considered the best at the time. My first test back on the island was negative. However, I know understood that most people test negative falsely.

A few weeks later I got the news, my Igenx test was positive for the Borrelia  burgdorferi bacteria, but

Another Long Day at the Lyme Disease Doctor’s Office

This time, it was even longer, because both Gayle and I had appointments. It saved us on travel costs, although most people with Lyme disease feel the financial pinch with just one person getting treatment, we were looking at two out-of-pocket expenses. Remember, these doctors don’t take insurance and expect you to pay per visit.

That’s all for today. And of course there is so much more to tell. The journey with Lyme Disease and the Co-infections is longer that most people expect. Even most doctors think in terms of 3 to 6 weeks and done.

As you can tell, everyone’s Lyme disease story is different.

Is this working for you? Should I continue to share? Let me know in the comments below.
